Playoff Fantasy POTR (Round 2)

WRITTEN BY CHRIS WASSEL 13 MAY 2011
Round 2 has come and gone and now there are only four teams left in the chase forLord Stanley’s Cup.  So who caught our eye during Round 2?  Well there were so many choices. Pavel Datsyuk had 9 points in seven games while dazzling us with everything he did despite being injured.

People have to give a hat tip to Dan Boyle who had eight points in Round 2 for San Jose and set up the game winner by Patrick Marleau tonight.  People forget how good Tim Thomas was for Boston and Dwayne Roloson was for Tampa Bay.  Also, remember the great losing efforts from the world of hockey.

Again the key in coming up with a Fantasy POTR is this.  It is a very hard decision because of the closeness of the numbers.  When we punched all the numbers and calculated everything, then it became a hair easier.  The result was the following.

So the Round 2 Fantasy POTR was indeed Tim Thomas.  Thomas was 4-0 with a 1.65 GAA and .953 save percentage for the Boston Bruins.  He was that glue that held Boston in when it looked like Boston may just crack a little or even drop a game or two to the Philadelphia Flyers.  Simply Thomas was the best that the second round had to offer.  Will he be that for Round 3?  I have no clue but here is some video evidence of the highway robbery that is Mr. Thomas.

Simply what if Tim Thomas was not Tim Thomas?  That is the real question.  Yes Philadelphia was banged up but they still brought the heat hard.  Thomas was able to stand up and make the saves when they were needed.

That is why TT is the Fantasy POTR.  Stay tuned as more coverage contunes as Round 3 gets underway Saturday Night with Boston and Tampa Bay.
