Let’s hope Alex Rodriguez doesn’t hurt his back again
After Alex Rodriguez’s 2 Home Run performance Tuesday night at Tropicana Field, Yankee fans everywhere were heard asking, “Maybe, the swing is back?” and “Where has this guy been during the Yankees latest stretch of bad play?” Well in a simple answer, what no one has brought up, because of his Tom Bradyesque injury reporting, is Maybe the oblique was hurt more than originally known? No fake back injury to pull himself out of a game, no I need a day, no well if that’s what he told Girardi, then that’s what it is. Alex Rodriguez has done a lot of things in his Yankee career, but the one he has never done is complain about nagging injuries.
A-Rod’s second home run off Rays starter James Shields (below) is a bomb to dead center field in the sixth. Jorge Posada (bottom) records two hits from the No. 7 spot in a 6-2 win.
With his latest show of why he is the best player of the generation, one has to hope he doesn’t hurt his back carrying the Yankee offense until Mark Teixiera, Nick Swisher, and Jorge Posada get themselves going.
A-Rod is now 9 HR’s behind his former teammate Ken Griffey Jr. on the all-time Home Run list. Griffey ended his Hall of Fame career with 630 HR’s.
