Playoff “This Day” (5/20)

As we keep things rolling along, here is another classic “This Day” with the usual playoff theme. This one has a bit of a twist as we ask the question, “what if Pierre Turgeon had played” but now is not the time.  Today’s moment happened 18 years ago.

May 20, 1993


Montreal set an NHL record with their seventh straight overtime victory in the playoffs when Guy Carbonneau scored at 12:34 of overtime to lead the Canadiens to a 2-1 win over the Islanders, in Game 3 of the Wales Conference Finals at New York.
