Memorial Day Wishes

WRITTEN BY CHRIS WASSEL | 30 MAY 2011

Today is really for those military who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect this country. Every day so many of us take for granted that very simple fact. However, most also do not realize the many civilians that die each year helping out servicemen and women do what they need to do in order to preserve the freedoms that we should be more thankful for.

Yes there will be tons of parades today, parties, and barbecues I am sure. However, pay a moment of silence for those who have given their lives so we would not perish from this Earth. Say a prayer or do whatever but do something to honor and respect our fallen.

Yesterday, we helped put flags in the ground for our fallen and helped out in any way we could. Honestly it was not much but there is no hockey talk without all those men and women who fight for our freedom. It does not matter if they are military or civilian.

So as always remember to fly your flag in pride on this day and really everyday. We will be back tomorrow with hockey as always but today is a day to remember and never ever forget.

Sincerely,

Chris Wassel
