Fantasy Hockey POTN (6/7)
WRITTEN BY CHRIS WASSEL | 07 JUNE 2011
Instead of concentrating on the shenanigans and tomfoolery that happened tonight (including the blindside hit on Nathan Horton), we decided to trot out our Fantasy POTN now. Lost in last night’s Game 3 was the fact that despite an 8-1 drubbing of Vancouver, it was the goaltending and not the defense that caught our spotlight.
That sounds crazy, doesn’t it? The “Three Stars” proved us right from the Boston pressbox and well our decision on a Fantay POTN was just too easy.
Tonight’s award goes to Tim Thomas as he stopped 40 shots and basically was a big reason why Vancouver went 0-8 on the man advantage. That is right. When you stop breakaways and keep your team in a game like Thomas did and then you hold firm even with a 4-0 lead, you will get your fantasy props. At one point, shots were 35-21 Vancouver almost midway into the third period.
At the end of the day, Thomas and the Bruins are now back in this series and yes the hit on Horton helped rally the Bruins but it was Tim Thomas who showed resolve and played hard in victory. Congrats to him while Roberto Luongo and Ryan Kesler could be called TURKEYS.
Now some video evidence of Tim Thomas at his craft……
Thank you and we almost forgot more coming in a bit….
