Considering the weekend that the Joe Gibbs Racing team had nobody would have expected what happened today in the Irish Hills of Michigan. Denny Hamlin in need of a win to get him solidly into one of the two wildcard positions in NASCAR’s chase for the sprint cup. In fact that was exactly what happened when Hamlin in his number 11 FexEx Toyota took the checkered flag. Matt Keneth finished second and teammate Kyle Busch finished third. The win put Hamlin into the top 10 in point while points leaded Carl Edwards extend his overall championship lead to 20 points over Kevin Harvick. The series moves to the Sonoma Valley next week.
