Anthony’s Take: Peverley came to the Bruins from the Thrashers during a busy trade-deadline-day. Despite just seven points (4 goals) in 23 regular season games, Peverley fit in very well with the Bruins. Like fellow center Patrice Bergeron, Peverley is a solid two-way-forward who gives you more than goals and assists.
In the playoffs Peverley shined. No. 49 had 12 points (4 goals) in the Bruins 25 playoffs games. Peverley played by far his best game as a Bruin in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, as he scored twice in a 4-0 win helping the Bruins even the series at two.
Peverley’s 41 points (Atlanta and Boston) is the second most points he has scored in his five-year-career.
Final grade: B
Marino’s grade: Penalty-killing, face-offs, quickness and some stints on the power play, Peverley did it all. A versatile player with a great hockey IQ, Peverley fit in nicely with the Bruins and became a well-known name around New England by the end of the Stanley Cup winning route.
Showing off his very good, all-around skills, Peverley filled-in fantastically for the injured Nathan Horton on the B’s top-line in the Stanley Cup Finals. He posted 2-6–8 totals in the first 20 post season contests, then 2-2–4 in the final five alongside David Krejci and Milan Lucic.
Score one more for GM Peter Chiarelli with this trade-deadline acquisition.
Final grade: B
