This Day In Hockey History (10/8)

WRITTEN BY CHRIS WASSEL | 08 OCTOBER 2011

Today we have one that spotlights one of the best pure passers of the NHL.  He turned Brett Hull into one whale of a scoring machine and set up many countless others.  This player even was one of the best faceoff men throughout his career and he could pot a few goals here and there when he needed to.  Our moment comes from 14 years ago today and yes it is a milestone.

Adam Oates scored his 7th career hat trick (his first with the Capitals) and added two assists for his 1,000th career NHL point as Washington won 6-3 against the Islanders, at New York. Oates became the 47th NHL player to get 1,000 career points.
