Michael Ryder has signed a 2 year deal with the Dallas Stars

Michael Ryder’s up and down tenure in Boston has ended as the forward has signed a deal with the Dallas Stars. Ryder signs for 2 years at $3.5 Million per year.

Ryder leaves the Bruins after three seasons where he had 127 points (63 goals). It certainly was a roller coaster ride for Ryder after coming to Boston from the Montreal Canadiens. After a 27-goal-season in his first year as a Bruin, Ryder’s production dropped with back-to-back 18-goal-seasons.

Ryder’s best times as a Bruin came during the playoffs. In 49 playoff games with the Bruins, Ryder had 35 points (17 goals). This seasons championship run was by far Ryder’s best postseason of his three in Boston. No one will forgot the game Ryder played in Game 4 against the Canadiens in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

After three poor games, everyone wanted Ryder out of the lineup to give the rookie Tyler Seguin a shot. Bruins coach Claude Julien stuck with Ryder, and Ryder made him look like a genius.

Ryder came up with a game changing glove save, a second period game-tying-goal, and then game-winning-goal in overtime to tie the series up at two.

Ryder is a guy with tremendous talent but never seems to be able to use it on a consistent basis. Ryder joins former Canadiens teammate Mike Ribeiro in Dallas.
